The malware was reported by ESET security researcher Lukas Stefanko. He has dubbed this malware 'Android Worm'. This malware uploads adware to your phone and then automatically spreads it by sending WhatsApp messages to your contacts.

Malware targets users with enticing ads

This malware is installed on your phone when you click on enticing ads. Such ads ask you to click on their link or download the app. Malware takes over your smartphone as soon as you click on such a message. Clicking on a link like this takes you to a website that looks like the Google Play Store. You are then asked to install some software. It looks like a Huawei Mobile app. It requests notification access once it is installed.

This WhatsApp malware is designed in such a way that it can use the app's quick reply feature. This malware sends a malware link to your WhatsApp contacts without your knowledge. Clicking on the link you sent to the opposite user also makes you a victim of this malware. This is how malware spreads itself.

This type of malware can send you suspicious messages and steal your money. But Stefanko believes that this type of malware can also be used to send other dangerous messages. This can seriously damage your privacy and your bank account.
