Virat to relinquish RCB captaincy: Kohli says this will be my last IPL captaincy

Virat further said that captaining an RCB full of talented players has been a wonderful and inspiring journey.

Virat Kohli has been the captain of RCB since the 2013 season. Under his leadership, the team reached the final for sure, but never won the tournament.


Virat Kohli has decided to relinquish the captaincy of the Indian team after the T-20 World Cup. Kohli has also decided to relinquish his captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after the current IPL season.


The RCB informed about this on social media on Sunday. Kohli will be seen captaining RCB for the last time in IPL-2021 this year. It may be mentioned here that Virat Kohli had already earlier announced about his resignation from the captaincy of the Indian team after the T-20 World Cup which starts next month. In addition, Virat Kohli has been the captain of RCB since the 2013 season.



"This will be my last IPL as RCB captain," Kohli said. I will remain an RCB player till my final IPL match. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me throughout my captaincy.

Management, coaches, support staff, players and the entire RCB family have had important responsibilities for RCB for  many years. This was not an easy decision. RCB is close to my heart, as we continue to strive for excellence.

Virat wants to pay special attention to batting

Virat had earlier said when he left the T-20 team captaincy that the Test and ODI team captaincy would be retained. Virat now wants to focus on batting. His batting performance has been poor for the last two years. He has not scored a century internationally in a long time.

Virat Kohli has been the captain of RCB since the 2013 season. Under his leadership, the team reached the final but could not win the tournament even once. Virat has led the team in 132 matches in the IPL so far. RCB has won 60 of these. Has faced defeat in 65 matches. 3 matches have been tied and 4 matches have no results yet.
