Akshay Kumar’s mother dies after illness: ‘I feel an unbearable pain’

Akshay Kumar’s mother Aruna Bhatia died on Wednesday morning. He took to Twitter to share the news and expressed his grief.

“She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti,” he wrote.

On Tuesday, Akshay asked fans to pray for her. “Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help,” he wrote.

Akshay, who was shooting in the UK, returned to Mumbai on Monday morning to be with his ailing mother. She was said to be unwell for a few days and was admitted to the Hiranandani Hospital. 

After the news of her mother's ill health reached him, Akshay cut his UK trip short and flew back to Mumbai. The actor had been shooting there for his upcoming film, Cinderella. 

She was admitted to Mumbai’s Hiranandani Hospital on September 3 and was in a critical condition.
