 Volcano erupts in Spain: 10,000 evacuated, epicenter of four-magnitude earthquake

Five to 10,000 people have been evacuated after a volcano erupted on Spain's La Palma Canary Islands. Officials said action was being taken to evacuate people in view of the blast. The eruption came after an earthquake of about four points on the reactor scale.

Earlier about 40 people were evacuated

Scenes shown on TV showed lava, smoke, and ash rising from the volcano. However, no casualties have been reported so far in this disaster . However, the property was badly damaged. On Sunday evening, authorities began evacuating an estimated 5,000 people from El Paso, Tajcourt and Las Lanos de Ariden as part of an emergency plan. Earlier, around 40 people and animals were evacuated fron that place to save their lives.

People were advised to stay at home

The school will be closed on Monday following the incident. The lava flow has cut off the AP212 road and also affected four roads. These roads have been closed. People are advised to stay at home. It is advisable to wash fruits and vegetables and keep doors closed to prevent them from being affected by volcanic ash.
