Stock market: Sensex fell 525 points, Nifty closed at 17396; Shares of Tata Steel, SBI fell

- Indian stock markets closed lower on the first day of the week today. The Sensex fell 525 points to close at 58,490. While the Nifty fell 188 points to close at 17396. Earlier, the Sensex opened at 58634 and the Nifty at 17443.
Shares of HUL, Bajaj Finserv, ITC rose
Shares of HUL, Bajaj Finserv, ITC, Nestle, HCL Tech and others closed higher on the Sensex. HUL fell 2.96 percent to close at 2801.50. Bajaj Finserv rose 1.10 per cent to close at 17024.00. However, shares of Tata Steel, SBI, IndusInd Bank, Dr Reddy's Labs, HDFC and others closed lower. Tata Steel fell 10.00 per cent to close at 1246.80. SBI was down 3.69 per cent at 437.30.
2331 shares closed in the red mark
3507 shares traded on the BSE. Out of which 1041 shares were seen trading with increase and 2331 shares were seen trading in red mark. At the same time, the total market cap of BSE-listed companies has crossed Rs 255 lakh crore.
298 stocks took a lower circuit on the BSE
During trading on the BSE, 228 stocks were seen trading at 52-week highs and 25 stocks at 52-week lows. Apart from this, 325 stocks took upper circuit while 298 stocks took lower circuit. Earlier on Friday, the Sensex was down 125 points at 59015 and the Nifty was down 44 points at 17585.

At the same time, the total market cap of BSE-listed companies has crossed Rs 257 lakh crore. Earlier on Friday, the Sensex was down 125 points at 59015 and the Nifty was down 44 points at 17585.
US stock market conditions
Earlier, the US stock market closed lower. The Dow Jones closed 0.48 percent lower at 34584. The Nasdaq was down 0.91 per cent at 15044 and the S&P 500 was down 0.91 per cent at 4432.
